I’ve kicked off this initiative where poets in our community share their verses, passing the torch from one to another. It’s not a new idea, nor did I create it. It was an idea born out of the concept of poets’ community collaboration and engagement through improvised verses that create a masterpiece.
After a very successful first attempt, I decided to make it a weekly ritual to foster community engagement.
First Chain
The stranger verse
Under the dim moonlight, I walked alone
The wind whispered a barefoot question,
dragging a thin trail of sand behind it,
and the night leaned in to listen
Laura B Writing in the Shadows verse
I answered with the weight of my footsteps,
each one a soft confession to the dark.
The stars held their breath above me,
as if waiting to hear my name spoken back
PancakeSushi verse
Breathless, the air crouched in anticipation
And the corners of the vault folded down
Shadows congregated at its edges
Etching truth into my future
Dorie Snow/雪多丽 verse
A tinkling sound filled the space,
Wind chimes far above
Whispering ever so gently
A tale of woe and love
Saif verse
Silent footsteps felt but not my own
Hiding behind me, covered by the wind
Flying pattering in the silent night
To reach my dreams and haunt tonight.
Hawtorn V. Rabot verse
The sound of shoes behind me fell,
I didn’t turn, but I ran.
I wouldn’t end up in hell,
Back where I began.
