It is wild how much people take water for granted. I was reminded while I read this, how much it means to us all, as metaphor, as comfort, and as what sustains our lives in so many ways.
Keep at it. I appreciate the reminder this morning.
There is safety and danger in both the world that surrounds us, but especially in the world inside of us. The duality of allowing ourselves to be ourselves and not allowing the less desirable parts of ourselves out; it’s a careful balancing act of self-love and acceptance of the world within us. Thank you for this piece! What a spectacular read ✨
I'm much more a mountain girl myself, but recently been spending time with the Ocean to get over my fears and accept the healing she has to offer. I loved this piece, the duality and balance is so gentle.
This is an excellently vivid exploration of the concept of duality.
The sea is a harsh mistress and gentle mother, crashing and rocking in turns. To know her, you must weather her waves and be willing to plumb her depths ; )
I think we all try to climb mountains to reach the plainness at the top. You just said it a lot better than any of the accomplished climbers have. Great poem, Doctor Strange!
This poem feels like someone speaking to the sea and the mountain the way you speak to the only two beings who have ever held your whole self without flinching. There’s a quiet, aching intimacy in how the speaker lets the sea cradle their fear, their tears, their rawness not asking them to be brave, not asking them to explain, simply staying close in the moments when they feel small. And the mountain becomes the companion for the other side of the self, the part that rises, runs, reaches, the part that needs space to breathe and a height to climb toward. What makes the poem so deeply human is the tenderness with which it accepts this emotional rhythm the lows that need gentleness, the highs that need grounding without shame or apology. The sea and the mountain don’t judge, don’t demand balance; they simply meet the speaker where they are. In that acceptance, the poem becomes a portrait of someone learning to live with their own duality by letting the world hold them, instead of fighting themselves alone.
I really appreciate how this thorough analysis captures the poem's core. It emphasizes the themes, metaphors, and underlying meanings. Thank you for your kind words, and I value your insightful reading!
I love how nothing here tries to fix you. The sea listens. The mountain waits. That kind of companionship is so beautiful 🥹🖤✨
Yes acceptance and letting be ❤️

This is so beautiful. And what I love is the complexity you have added to the metaphor of the sea. It can be safe. And dangerous.
Thank you Chris ❤️

I love how the sea is portrayed as both a predator and a protector. It reminds me of the balance we must find in our own lives.

I am more of a sea person
But the mountain offered me the refuge I needed
Thank you for your lovely comment 🫶🏾
The way the sea humbles without shaming, and the mountain steadies without ego… that contrast felt lived-in 🤍 beautiful
Thank you Pelle ♥️ the contrast is really something and I appreciate you noticing that 🔥
What a beautiful poem! You showcased that duality so brilliantly, between the sea and the mountain you extracted a singing poetry, truly inspiring !💌🌊

It reminded me of one of Al mutanabi’s poems if you know which one I’m talking about👀
الخيل و الليل و البيداء تعرفني

Thank you ♥️
I'm glad this stated with you!
You're welcome ❤️
“The sea and the mountain knew me,” this holds so much. I resonate with this a lot the sea and mountains being my two greatest loves?
Yesss!
I'm glad it did
They are magnificent ♥️
Whenever I think about moving to a new place I first make sure both are there 🔥
I’m in a lame locked state now but I’m visiting he ocean soon and I do at least have lots of lakes!
Same :(
I have a gulf all around, but no mountain in sight :(
Enjoooy🫶🏾
It has been both good and bad
But it has been that's the important part 👌🏾
